Dear Valve,

When I open up HL2 to play, why must I wait 300 minutes for the game to update? Why, in this time, am I prevented from playing a totally seperate game (in this case, Halfife 1)? Why does steam sporadically eat up the whole CPU? My machine sounds like a harrier jump-jet.
