jmtd → log → alcopop.org → Linux in PC World
Yesterday I went to PC World in order to try out some Apple macs. Mac OS X is nice, once I'd found out how to spawn a terminal I played around a bit, changed the user's .plan etcetera. However, there was an even more interesting machine there.
This was a second hand (yes, second hand in PC World) computer running a strange version of linux. I tried playing with it but couldn't get very far... this version was obviously designed to clone windows as closely as possible, there was only a root user and I couldn't change desktop from KDE (or even leave the desktop altogether). Its a shame there wasn't an internet connection to it because then I'd have a rooted PC World shell or something.
Without internet access and with restricted control over what I was doing I got bored pretty quickly, so after playing with /etc/motd I moved on to shop for an iron.
