This is mainly for posterity. My Debian activities were intertwined and influenced by the UKUUG/FLOSS-UK organisation, so I've included some FLOSS-UK events too.

1999

  • First experiences with Linux - initially Red Hat 6.1, some distro experimentation before I settle on Debian. Start running my own general-purpose server (web, email, etc.)

2001

  • start University; meet a Debian Developer in the flesh, decide to become involved in Debian.

2005

2005-06-18: First impact on debian-policy

2005-08-04: Attend UKUUG 2005 Linux Technical Conference. Meet lots of Debian developers including most of the Cambridge crowd and Debian UK Society group.

2005-10: helped out at the Debian stand at Linuxconf 2005.

2006

2006-03-21: UKUUG Spring Conference 2006 in Durham with lots of work colleagues. First signatures on my PGP key.

2006-04-22: My first package makes it into unstable.

2006-05-03: My first package makes it into testing.

2006-05-25: Joined NM queue.

2006-06-06: Passed NM Advocate check

2006-12-06: Put on hold due to inactivity

2007

2007-01-02: My first priority=high package.

2007-06-17: Start of DebConf 7, for which I was an organiser

2007-11-16:

2007-12-03: become a Maintainer

2008-03-17: First upload to ftp-master as a Debian Maintainer.

2009-06-30: I become a Debian Developer

2009-11-08: I gave a talk on ikiwiki at UKUUG Linux 2008 Conference and Workshop

2010-10-17: My first Debian vote.
