My first PHP 5 rant, and no doubt not my last. I'm not even using it yet.
According to the PHP YP/NIS Functions page in the PHP manual, the YP/NIS extention stuff has been moved to the PECL repository and is no longer bundled with PHP as of PHP 5.1.0.
Great, although it doesn't tell you where to look in the PECL system. A minor oversight, we can just read the changelog.
Except there is no changelog for 5.1 on the PHP.net site (claims google). The PHP 5 changelog only goes up to 5.0.5, which I presume was the last stable release.
So they've seen fit to update the documentation to reflect changes in 5.1, but not to provide a list of changes in said 5.1. I expect it's either in the CVS repository or the source tarball, but now I'm expending rather a lot of effort to find out something they should have made clear in the first place.
