Yesterday I was extolling the virtues of package-PCs: no more dodgy hardware, static shock death, and those lovely warranties: perhaps fate, but today my desktop died. It's stone dead. I think it's the PSU but I can't get past the boot stage properly so its hard to tell.

Now I have the small task of backing up max. 120gb of stuff (luckily I just bought a DVD writer for my 21st birthday), factory resetting the hard drive if possible (if not, blasting it with random data a few times) and calling in my warranty.

I think, financies permitting, I will try and get a refund on this thing and buy a laptop with a mega-extended warranty.
