I don't know if I'll ever publish this, it might be worthless self-indulgent gushing.
Recently I have been re-listening to some albums that I haven't listened to for a long time, as well as some albums I've never given the proper amount of attention to.
Today it's The Cure's "Disintegration". Originally released in 1989, Disintegration is perhaps the only Cure album to blend both their dark and light sides in some measure whilst still remaining internally consistent (unlike, say, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, Wish or the last two efforts).
Disintegration is the highest-climbing Cure album ever released and has been name checked countless times as their best, not least by Cartman from South Park. A re-master re-release is long overdue.
It was on first hearing "Fascination Street" from this album that I came to properly discover the Cure. Despite that, and despite several other fantastic tracks (including the dark/light fence sitting "Pictures of You", "Lovesong" and "Lullaby"), it's "Prayers for Rain" which currently stands out for me. Stick it on a decent hi-fi.
